Aujourd’hui, je vous parle d’une artiste que vous avez peut-être dû voir passer dans l’une de mes playlistes annuelles Dua Lipa. J’aurais d’ailleurs voulu vous donner un avis écrit sur son premier album, que j’ai beaucoup écouté passer un moment, mais le temps et la motivation m’ont manqué. Et comme son deuxième album Future Nostalgia est sorti il y a quelques semaines et que c’est un opus que j’aime bien écouter, il fallait que je lui consacre un article ! Avant de passer au sujet même de ce billet Future Nostalgie, j’aimerais vous présenter quelques titres que j’adore du premier opus de Dua Lipa vous devriez en reconnaître certains Tout ça pour dire que j’aime beaucoup cette chanteuse, tant elle a un timbre de voix qui lui est propre. Même si à côté de ça, elle doit encore trouver sa propre empreinte musicale. Avec Future Nostalgia, elle prend vraiment une direction intéressante. Selon moi, ce disque est à elle ce que Confessions on a Dance Floor est à Madonna un bel hommage huilé et calibré à une période musicale qui plane toujours dans l’air le disco pour la Madone, les années 80 pour Dua. Et après les deux premiers singles explosifs Don’t Start Now et Physical très énergique et dansant, on était en droit de s’attendre à un album tout aussi excellemment produit… Ce qui est le cas de A à Z ! Je vais sûrement m’avancer à vous disant ça, mais pour moi, Future Nostalgia est l’un des albums de 2020. Certes, on n’est qu’en avril et d’autres albums aussi efficaces, voire meilleurs, ont encore le temps de sortir. Mais dès son deuxième essai, Dua a réussi à placer la barre tellement haut qu’on se demande qui pourra rivaliser avec elle dans les prochains mois. En plus, la campagne marketing autour de ce disque est vraiment bien gérée, entre le délire » des années 80 assumé à fond en témoigne la vidéo Let’s Get Physical Work Out et les clips qui sont soignés sauf peut-être celui de Don’t Star Now, que je trouve trop classique pour ma part. En tout cas, ça fait plaisir de voir une chanteuse se bouger pour nous vendre sa musique comme à la grande époque où tout le monde faisait de la promo à fond. Et maintenant, passons à mon avis sur les onze titres de l’album Future Nostalgia, si vous le voulez bien. C’est parti ! Future Nostalgia la chanson d’ouverture, qui porte le même nom que celui de l’album, annonce d’emblée la couleur un disque composé de hits pour faire nous danser dans notre salon. Bizarrement, j’avais du mal en écoutant ce titre seul, mais maintenant que j’ai découvert l’album, il passe vraiment bien et je le classe même parmi mes titres favoris de cette nouvelle Start Now c’est le premier single qui tourne en boucle à la TV et à la radio depuis des mois. De mon côté, je ne m’en lasse toujours pas. C’est clairement un morceau qui, selon moi, marquera les esprits et qui ne sera pas sitôt écouté, sitôt oublié, comme beaucoup de morceaux pop. J’en comprends donc tout à fait le cette troisième piste sonne un peu déjà vue selon moi, dans le sens où on a entendu ce genre de morceau des centaines de fois auparavant. Ce genre de production et la voix aiguë ne sont donc pas très originales, dans un sens. Néanmoins, Cool s’inscrit bien dans la ligne musicale de cet opus pour son côté fédérateur. Mais pas sûr que ce soit la chanson qu’on retienne le plus dans cet pour moi, c’est le tube de l’album. Ce titre a été un coup de cœur instantané dès la première écoute et je ne m’en lasse toujours pas à l’heure actuelle. L’esprit 80s est bel et bien présent en plus, Physical ressemble énormément à Holding Out for a Hero de Bonnie Tyler, chanson sortie durant les années 80. Bref, c’est un hit imparable qui mérite son succès actuel dans les si je devais résumer ce morceau en un mot, ce serait chill ». Ce morceau a capté mon attention dès la première écoute grâce à son refrain très entêtant et à ses couplets tout aussi efficaces, encore une fois. Et il semble vraiment plaire aux auditeurs en dehors des singles actuels. Donc si elle ne l’exploite pas, je n’y comprendrai rien !Love Again quand j’ai écouté Love Again pour la première fois, elle m’a paru si familière… Et pour cause, elle sample Your Woman de White Town, un titre des années 90 qu’on a tous entendu au moins une fois et qui nous est resté en tête à cause de son air célèbre. Tout ça pour dire qu’ intemporel » définit vraiment bien cet album. Break My Heart c’est le troisième single de l’album et, malgré son efficacité indéniable, ce n’est pas la chanson que j’aurais choisie en premier Hallucinate aurait été parfait pour succéder à Physical. Mais je dois avouer que le clip est réussi, bien mise en scène et relie bien les différentes scènes entre elles. Et il donne tout autant envie de se déchaîner chez soi que les précédents morceaux. Je ne le classerais pas dans mon top 3 In Bed je pense que c’est la piste de ce disque que j’aime le moins. C’est une chanson sympathique — je ne dis pas le contraire —, mais en deçà des titres qui la précèdent. Mais le refrain a quelque chose de rigolo » qui fait qu’elle est agréable à Will Be Boys on finit avec un mid-tempo de bonne facture et du même acabit que Good In Bed. Là aussi, on redescend d’un cran après les neuf premiers tubes de l’album. Mais le morceau n’est pas désagréable pour autant. Vous aurez donc compris que mon avis concernant Future Nostalgia est globalement positif. Comme je le disais au début de mon article, je pense qu’on tient facilement l’un des albums de l’année 2020 bien qu’un trimestre seulement se soit écoulé. Si j’avais un léger reproche à faire, ce serait sur son nombre de titres onze, c’est peu ». Cependant, il est vrai que c’est plus agréable d’écouter un album court d’excellente facture, plutôt qu’un long album qui soit ennuyeux. Or, je pense qu’avec le potentiel commercial de cet opus, il y a de quoi proposer une réédition avec des inédits, voire des B-Sides comme Ball and Chain que personnellement, j’adore !.
